WESTLAND — Outdoors may still be chilly, but anyone traveling in February to Westland's annual Greek Fest, one of the largest in Michigan, can "be Greek for a day."
The Hellenic Cultural Center of the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church are preparing to hold their annual Greek Fest Saturday, Feb. 24, and Sunday, Feb. 25. The festival is best known for its food, music and dancing.
The festival takes place at the Hellenic Cultural Center, 36375 Joy Road. Saturday's festivities run between noon and 9 p.m., and Sunday's activities run between noon and 6 p.m.
Tickets cost $3, and proceeds benefit the Hellenic Cultural Center of the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church's community outreach and ministries.
The Hellenic Cultural Center transforms into "a Greek paradise" for the festival. The event features authentic Greek food, cocktails, live music, traditional dancing and a market themed around the famous Plaka neighborhood in Athens, Greece.
People can also take dancing lessons and tour the church, which features plenty of unique stained glass and Biblical iconography.
